Beer Ingredients

Hot Yeast Belgian Ale  / Partial Mash / 5 Gallon Batch

O.G. 1.051 - 22 IBU

4-3/4 Lb. Light Liquid Malt Extract

4 - oz. Aromatic Malt

8 - oz. Wheat malt

1-3/4 Lb. Belgian Pale Ale Malt

1- Lb. Munich Malt    

1/2-oz. Czech Saaz Hops Pellets (Sparge Hopping)

1-oz. Perle Hops Pellets (60min)     

 1/4-oz Czech Saaz Hops Pellets (2 min)

 1/4-oz Perle Hops Pellets (2 min)  

White Lab #550 Belgian Ale (68-78 degrees)

1-1/4 Cup Light Dry Malt Extract for priming

Best age for 6-8 weeks.

  The Belgian Ale yeast has a temperature range of 68 degrees to 78 degrees. GREAT for Summer time Brewing. It is best if you make a small starter with this yeast. Mash Grains in 1-1/4 gal. water at 152 degrees for 60 minutes. Add the 1/2-oz. Czech Saaz Hops Pellets to the top of the mash before Sparging. Sparge Hopping will give you wonderful extra flavor without the bitterness. 60 minute Boil with the Perle Hops, Adding the 1/4 oz ea. Czech Saaz & Perle Hops the Last 2 minutes of the boil.
