Beer Ingredients

    Just Hefeweizen   - Extract   -- O.G. 1.046-1.048     IBU. 14

    This is a light refreshing German Style wheat. The warmer you ferment it, the more of the Banana clove esters will come out. (try not to go over 75 degrees)

1/4 Lb. Crushed Wheat

1/2 Lb. Crushed Carapils

1/4 Lb. Crushed Crystal 10L

6-1/2 Lb's Wheat Malt Extract

1 oz. Mt. Hood Leaf Hops ( 45 min.)

White Labs # WLP300 Hefeweizen Yeast

1-1/4 cup. Dry Wheat Malt for bottling

 

Steep the Crushed grains in 1/2 gallon of 150 degree water for 45 minutes. Remove grains and sparge with 1/2 gallon water at 168 degrees. Remove grains add water to brew pot for 2-1/2 gallons.

Add Malt extract, bring to boil. Boil for 15 minutes and then add the hops. Boil for 45 minutes. Remove from heat and Cool. Strain well before pouring into fermenter. Cool to 72 degrees and add yeast.

Transfer to secondary when primary fermenter slows. Finish in secondary.

Bottle age for only 3-4 weeks.
