Beer Ingredients

Valentine Red Ale  /  5 Gallon Batch

O.G. 1.047 – 1.049  - Hop IBU's 19 - 21

 

6- LB.  Light Malt Extract

1- LB.  Crushed  Melanoidin Malt (This is what gives the beer it's Red color)

1/4-LB. Crushed Crystal 40L Malt

1-oz. Crushed Black Malt

5/8 oz.  Northern Brewer Hops (bittering hops)

1/2- oz.  Mt Hood Hops (finish hops)

1 ea. White Lab Kolsch Yeast or 1 ea. / Pack Nottingham Yeast

1/2- cup Dry Malt & 1/2 cup  Dextrose -  Blend (For Priming)

Mash grains in small pan with an 1/2 gallon water @ 150 degrees for 30 minutes, sparge into you brew pot with 1/2 gallon water @ 168 degrees. Add warm water and malt extract to 2-1/2 gallons level. Bring to a boil add bittering hops, boil for 50 minutes. Add finish hops, boil for 10 minutes. Bottle with Dry Malt Blend, ferment at 65-68 degrees. Best aged for 4 - 6 weeks
